Wanted to try something new in Oregon City so I hopped over here for Happy Hour. The waiter was really nice and new the perfect balance of leaving me alone and checking on me (and keeping my water refilled). $4 HH cocktail special is always nice and tonight it happened to be my fave! Vodka cran. Either they make theirs very strong or I've just gotten weak since I rarely drink anymore. lol It was yummy. Ordered the $6 burger and $3 tots with chipotle aioli. Burger was meh. I've had much better from fast food. Nothing about it stood out in anyway. Not juicy, not seasoned, just meh. I did appreciate that they were light on the mayo. Tots were unseasoned but the aioli was really good. I didn't mean to eat all of the aioli since who really needs that much mayo but it was just too good. Not too spicy but a wonderful kick. Atmosphere was nice and I can see why you would come here with buddies after work. Will I return for the food? No. If I can say I can get a better $2 burger from BK, it isn't worth going back for.

I took my mother and husband out for their birthdays, and I could not have been more disappointed. We did have a nice waitress, that is the best that I can say. I had the pasta with mussels. There were dead mussels in the pasta, absolutely no quality control. Being a fledgling chef myself, I would expect a executive chef to know how dangerous it is to cook and serve previously dead mussels or clams. The pasta was dressed with muddy water which pooled at the bottom of the bowl, the mussels that were edible were abnormally tough, even for mussel. I only made it a quarter of the way through the dish and instantly stopped upon finding the dead mussels at the bottom. All in all I paid fifteen dollars for dead mussels and a few bites of watered down flavorless pasta. I received no response from the chef or management after telling my waitress to inform them that there were dead mussels in the pasta. My husband was disappointed by the fish tacos, they were priced high enough to expect great quality, but you only get two with no sides and they were poorly constructed. The tomato puree was overpowering, and conflicted with the neutral fish. The Fish and Chips were good, while nothing truly notable, they were not disappointing either. We use to love this place but now we are heartbroken over poor, dangerously cooked food and a $80 check. For such a upscale reputation and noted "casual fine dinning" feel, I was disappointed in the quality of the food. I will go back one more time. This is Oregon City, and it is a hard market. It may have been a bad night. Everyone deserves a second chance. Hopefully next time the bar will have a tender who knows how to make a dirty martini, and a head chef who knows better.

I come here often, probably too often. The staff gets five stars, always friendly and attentive with a special shout out to Vivian who goes beyond. The food can be at times boring and average, but to be fair they just revamped the menu and I have yet to try the new items. The exception to this rule seems to be the specials, they typically are amazing.

To be honest, I feel like I need to give this place another chance. Great atmosphere and service was good. Only ordered happy food which was very disappointing. Fries replicated Mcdonalds fries. (PLEASE get better fries? ? Perhaps fresh cut or wedges?) Chicken strip were nothing special. Good beer tap selection.
(2)Amy B.
We went here on a Friday afternoon. The beer menu is subpar - this is Oregon. Why would you waste two taps with Coors light and Pabst? Our server was not the brightest bulb - he told us the wrong beer was the special beer (we went and looked at the taps ourselves to figure this out, and it was the beer we would have ordered...) The food was okay. I ordered the mac and cheese from the children's menu for our daughter, figuring it would be actual mac and cheese since it's a normal item on the menu. And mind you, the kids price was $5 (comes with tater tots) vs. $3 for the happy hour portion. It was Kraft mac & cheese. I sent it back and requested the menu item. If you are going to serve boxed, processed food, you really should specify that (I would not have ordered it). I really wanted to like this place and it definitely has potential. Better service, better beer list, and improved menu labeling and it would be a regular place to go.

My wife and I went here to celebrate Valentine's Day having gone here the year before and had a GREAT experience. Unfortunately this was not the case yesterday :(. We had been sat in their "Fireplace Room" with about 15 other tables only being served by one man. The amount of time between being sat at our table and even being offered water was at least 20 minutes with the whole dining experience taking well over 2 hours. While the waiter did a great job with the limited resources he had a lot of false promises were made (free drinks, desserts, etc.) that were not delivered upon. Along with having to wait an extraordinary amount of time for our food when it arrived it wasn't even cooked correctly (wrong side dishes, food was cold). With a tab in the $80 range for two people I should hope this experience would have been more enjoyable and my wife and I are doubting we will come back to this establishment in the future. Very disappointing, especially after such a great time the year prior.

We have been to the Highcliffe Pub & Eatery a couple of times and have had good food and good service. My husband LOVED the burger with bacon relish and I thought the mac n cheese was decent. There is a good selection of bar food and upscale-ish food with healthier options (salads).

Awesome place for large groups great food separate rooms to feel somewhat private great food

The Highcliffe is a cool enough place, in a town where cool places are few and far between. I have been here several times all later in the evening and its always very quiet. They do have daily drink specials and are doing some house booze infusing, though the one time a friend ordered their special which was a pineapple infused vodka she sent it back, apparently the flavor was really off. I'd like to see the Highcliffe stay open a few hours later than they do, as there is a real lack of clean, centrally located and low key places to patronize after dinner in OC. Every time I've been here the nice staff have in essence turned the few groups out to the street at 9, saying they close early because they don't have the steady evening business. It's seems to me like asking a few paying, drinking groups to hit the road may be the reason they aren't keeping busy into the night.

Very disappointed, ordered the 1/2 sandwich with smoked salmon chowder, got a so so 1/2 sandwich with the sausage soup, not what I ordered. Two people order the same thing, and the waitress is not listening. The sandwich had very little meat, over melted cheese and soggy bread. What can I say the whole meal sucked. Won't be going back, ill walk up the hill and go to MIKES, and have a buffalo burger, some fries, and ice tea for 1/2 the money. The waitress I'm sure will get my order correct.

Oregon City finally has a Happy Hour that I liked. Seems where ever I go, a place "calls" it happy hour but all you get is a couple drinks on special or some cheap food. So when I stopped at the new Highcliffe to check it out, I was pleasantly surprised. The drinks were slightly discounted which was nice,( I enjoyed a big glass of Merlot that was very good) but the menu was great! I couldn't make up my mind for the longest time. Finally I decided on the Hummus Platter. I figured I'd be getting a small plate of regular old hummas and some bread. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. For only $5, I got this huge serving of a slightly spicy, quite garlicy, incredible hummas. It came with slices of real crisy bread rather than pita, PLUS a pile of olives (Mediterranean variety, not just one kind) As much as I love hummus, I couldn't even finish it. I was FULL and I hadn't even eaten lunch that day. I did request more bread because there wasn't nearly enough for all of that hummus, but they gladly provided me with more and didn't even charge me more. After reading all of the other great reviews on the food, I must go back and try some of them. Oh, another thing I like is the Happy Hour starts at 2:00!! When it was Weatherfords, I don't think it started til 4pm and I hated that. Someone mentiond Fried Chicken served with Waffles. LOL I may just have to experience that.

It had been years since we have been here and we were pleased with almost everything about our dinner. We ordered a reuben and pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was good but far from the best my husband has had. He reported there should of been more meat and it was slightly dry. But it still was pretty good. The fries were thinner cut, my personal favorite. The rueben was very good with the exception of the spicy Russian dressing. There wasn't a lot of meat but the sandwich had just the right amount of each ingredient to make it wonderful. Our waitress was wonderful and even when I was concerned about how spicy the Russian dressing was she insisted they remake it. The food arrived in a timely manner even though they were busy. All and all a nice visit and we will certainly return.

Service was uneventful and poor. Haven't seen the waitress since I ordered. Fish tacos had salsa. Who does that? No flavor. I had a horrible chicken fried steak. I'm not even sure how to explain how bad it was. Chewy, no flavor and any flavor it had was not good. Check is here. Still never saw the original waitress at my table but was at those nearby. With good service I would be here for another drink and dessert. Extremely disappointed. They are lucky at the two stars. Happy hour is $1 off crappy beer. 1$ off appetizers. They need to see and learn from the competition for nice restaurants as they failed bad in so many ways.

A little something extra. This is a really nice place and a bargain for the price. Dark wood, comfortable chairs and booths, cloth napkins and entrees for under $15, burgers for under $10? The traditional burger (which is done well, my only disappointment was being surprised that it was prepared with mayo, one of my arch enemies). I ordered it medium and while the initial impression was overdone, cutting into it revealed a perfect medium. Tater tots were tasty, crispy and hot. The wife wasn't impressed with a side salad served warm. The special of the day, steak with blue cheese sounded terrific but my aversion to blue cheese prevented me from ordering it. Speaking of Bleu Cheese, if that is something you happen to like, you will find many options featuring the mouldy delicacy here. The soups are great, I tried a parsnip, ginger, carrot combo that was tasty. The other option was a Navajo stew today. I also ordered the pepper jack cheese sticks, this being the first time I have seen them on offer. They were good, sadly the marinara sauce on the side was somewhat gelatinous and unappealing. The decor is at least a couple of steps above what I would expect at this price point, tall, open ceilings in a historic building. Your choice to sit in the bar or restaurant section. There are TV's in the bar area, non offensive, somewhat upbeat music on the other side where we sat. The furniture was in great shape, comfortable and not crowded together, again setting it apart from many of its contemporaries. The service... Well, here the whole experience is lowered a notch. Not objectionable but also not speedy or particularly attentive. With a little more attention to the patrons and stepping up some of the details on the food and this becomes a very solid 4 star and likely a contender for all five, right here in Oregon City, which starts with O which typically means Ordinary but hopefully turns to OUTstanding. Oh, they offer a happy hour menu even on Saturday's, and there are quite a few choices that seem worth trying from there.
(3)Elizabeth K.
Ok I know I'm being a little petty but for the price of the food the waitress should be able to pronounce it. The table was sticky, the menus stained and the wait staff, while nice, seemed a little out of their depth. To make matters worse, there were no paper towels in the rest room. And no midriff please unless I'm at hooters. And whoever was the juvenile that put the sausage sticker on the waitresses butt...well ok that was a little funny. Either you are higher end or not. Took 20 minutes to get food.
(3)Paula W.
It's sort of sad that I rarely make it to restaurants close to home. I guess I just didn't have the motivation to get here...until now. Met up with about 15 friends on Saturday and got a nice little room toward the back during Happy Hour. The bartender was soooo sweet. When asked what the drink special for the evening would be she gave the impression if a bunch of us wanted a particular drink, that's what the special would be. Unfortunately we couldn't all agree on one drink. The service was amazing, the food was extra tasty and the portions were spot on for a Happy Hour dish. I split three dishes with my sister and all were delicious. Considering what a large group we had I thought the timing was fantastic. The food came out fairly quickly and piping hot. I can't wait to go back and check out a few more of the Happy Hour menu items.

We went here to try someplace new in Oregon City. The atmosphere was nice, but not very pub-like. I had a burger and was informed they were out of fries. My lady's water glass had major lip-gloss on it and was quickly replaced. Our server was nice but didn't seem to know what beers were on tap. The bartender decided to take orders from a large group right as our drink orders went in and we had to wait 10 minutes for our drinks. (I think our server ended up pouring them.) The bartender took a couple smoke breaks right out in front of the front door. I had the Highcliffe burger and asked for it "medium" but when it arrived it was very well done with a good amount of char. It was removed from our bill. My lady had the blue cheese burger and coleslaw, but was disappointed to find out the slaw was apple-slaw. The server informed us it was hit-and-miss with the customers. (It wouldn't be hard to mention something like that when ordering or on the menu...!) Overall, I think the place has potential, but unless they get their act together a bit, they're going to continue to miss the mark.
(2)Jane L.
A little on the pricey side but good food and plenty of room compared to other pubs around.
(4)Whitlee P.
I love the Highcliffe, whether it's for a quick lunch or happy hour with the fam, it's a great spot with nice staff and great bartenders. The food is excellent and the bar menu offers a wide variety of options which I can appreciate. They also have good prices on beer which get a thumbs up from my husband and I!
(5)Tiffany B.
Time for an update! Now that they have been open for almost a year..... We came in for dinner this time and they still had the friendly service from last time we were in. They did change the bar around a bit, adding more tables and less booths, not sure I like the new layout. Our dinner was great, nice presentation, great tastes and the special they had was hella good!... A big fat juicy burger with cream cheese and topped with jalapeno poppers! The bf and I were just talking about making one of these this weekend and what do ya know...they had one as the special! Their HH hours have changed since last time we were in...they are now offering a 2:30-6:30 HH menu with $4 cocktails and wines! You bet we will be back for HH next time!
(4)Desiree L.
I wasn't sure what to expect because Pub food generally isn't gourmet, but I was extremely impressed with the menu. The service was awesome and the food was cooked to perfection. I had the trout and my friend had the pasta with shrimp and both were delicious. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends!
(5)Carl T.
My wife and I went there for lunch today. We were not sure if they were open or closed. When we walked in the place has a beautiful bar. Its nicely decorated with things to look at all over the place. We were greeted by a guy in a Smith and Wesson T-shirt (VERY cool in my book) and seated. Our waiter was prompt and efficient. One of my little pet peeves is something I actually don't write to much about in my reviews because it would become so redundant. Its the temperature most places serve their beer. This place has a NICE beer selection and so I ordered an IPA. It was ICE cold, YUM. Not many places actually serve beer this cold and let me tell you its such a treat when I find one. Without asking, the waiter even brought a taster of another beer he thought I might like. How cool is that? We only had a couple of salads so I cant attest to the cooked food here. Though the salads were ample, fresh and very very tasty. I ordered mine with Salmon and my wife ordered hers with chicken. She must have commented three times how juicy and good the chicken was. I didn't dare ask her for a bite fearing I might loose a finger or two. Service = FANTASTIC! Decor = FANTASTIC Food = FANTASTIC I can't wait to go back!

We've passed this place for years on the way to my Dad's house in OC and never stopped, our loss. It has great food, even though we didn't get the famous blue burger, we ordered a mish mash of apps and entrees: aka coconut shrimp, wedge salad, pork chop . Mussels were average, not scrumptious enough, but I have high expectations on shellfish. But what really shines is the amazing service, and definitely kid friendly, knowing to get our babies food out first and fast. And didn't even blink when she puked her milk and tater tots all over the sidewalk, instead materializing with a smile and another ketelone and tonic for a stressed out mama. Thanks highcliffe, we'll be back ;)
(5)Mike G.
Tried this place again...It was "Happy Hour" and all I can say is...our service was fine. I tried the Hamburger, OMG it was horrible and really small. NOT a fan of this place and we won't be trying it again....
(2)Nikki G.
Great food, great atmosphere, great customer service. My favorite place in Oregon City!
(5)Heather N.
Everything about this place is great. Nice peaceful bar with great food. Bartender was right in point. Orders were taken quickly without feeling rushed.
(5)Joel M.
Cozy! This is just the sort of place I've been looking for: low key, great beer, simple-yet-delicious menu, and friendly service. It's the kind of place that becomes a reliable regular in the rotation.
(4)Crystal F.
I have been here dozens of times. A handful for company Christmas parties that are catered events upstairs, but mostly for happy hour down in the bar. This is our local spot. They have a large happy hour menu and the food is always consistent. As many others have said, the mac n cheese is some of the best I have had. Coconut shrimp, pulled pork sliders, nacho, Caesar salad...we haven't had a bad meal here. Bonus: their wine pours are huge. I would say more like 1.5 - 2 glasses anywhere else. Great local beer selection too. The service is just my style. All of the servers are great. They check in on your just the right amount of times. Not too often where it is annoying and just enough, so you aren't waiting for a drink. It used to be that the place was pretty empty, but each time I go, there are more and more...and more people, so no more sneaking in 5 minutes before happy hour ends. It's a casual, comfortable place with seating for all sizes of parties. Easy location, great staff, chill vibe, consistent food, and great drinks. I give it 4 stars for restaurants everywhere, but would definitely give it 5 if we are talking about restaurants in Oregon City only.
(4)Holly S.
Great burgers, salad & appetizers. The staff is super friendly and the vibe is chill. The Mac and cheese with Gouda and bacon was to.die.for. The Highcliffe Pub was the perfect port in the storm, giving us sustenance and cider after a harrowing drive down the Gorge.
(5)Lisa E.
What a cute little find! The atmosphere is cool, there's tons of room for big groups. The Caesar salad was pretty good but could have been a little spicier. The salmon chowder was tasty. My boyfriend got the burger and it was overdone but still tasted good. The tots were GREAT! They also have lots of gluten free options! Good service, all around nice place. Nothing super special about the food but decent.
(3)Missy W.
Gotta give them this fifth star! This place has probably the best happy hour I have seen in the Portland area. I can't believe this is place in Oregon City. Go for happy hour and sit in the bar. The prices will blow you away and the freshness and quality of food is perfect. This last visit we ordered the Mac n' Cheese (a must try) and the Salmon Po'boy Sandwich. Delicous, fresh and perfectly made.

Horrible service!!!! Short dark haired waitress, she was the rudest snottiest server I have ever had. Food was mediocre

I went to visit dad in O.C. a few weeks back, and he suggested Highcliffe. I can call Oregon City "O.C." cuz' I grew up there. Go Big Red! That's the Pioneers, for the uninitiated. Dad was raving about the mac and cheese on the way down. While I trust dad's judgement, of COURSE I'd done my due Yelp diligence and looked the joint up before we left the house. Could the caramelized onion and bacon jam live up to the reviews? In two words, hell yes! It compliments a seriously good burger. I like a good sweet sauce on my burger occasionally, and Highcliffe's definitely fits that bill. I chose the onion rings over the fries, and I was pleased. Crisp, sweet kinda cornmealy crunch is the way to go. Dad stuck with the mac and cheese. Certainly good, but the entree version is a huge portion. Too huge. The happy hour cup is a better size, combined with something to cleanse your palate with. Perhaps a house salad. The space is comfortable enough. There's a mix of high top tables combined with a smattering of booths. A bar dominates one side of the room. The joint ain't huge, but I prefer a more intimate environment. Go to Big Al's if you're looking for some mammoth space. Some nice beer choices at Highcliffe, including Fearless' Scottish Ale. Yum! Several iterations of dining establishments have occupied this space over the years. I can say that I hope Highcliffe stays here for years to come. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items, if the lure of that onion bacon jam isn't too great!
(4)Deb P.
One of the best burgers I have had in a long time---Bleu Burger with bleu cheese and BACON JAM. BACON, BACON, BACON. It doesn't get any better than that!! Skinny shoestring fries, piping hot. Loved the atmosphere. Service at lunch was slow, even though they didn't seem busy, but they were friendly. I would go back.
(4)Karen L.
Things I love: the ambiance, the service and the coconut shrimp. My daughter and I each had the macaroni which was good but not 'amazing'. I would go back though, to try other menu items. The service was out-standing!
(4)Lacy K.
Worst thanksgiving ever!!! Food was worse than a bad hospital cafeteria - lukewarm & tasteless. The deserts were pathetic. There were no decorations or flowers or even tablecloths on most tables and the room that we were shoved into smelled like a musty retirement home. I know it must suck to work on thanksgiving, but I brought 2 bottles of wine and our waiter literally left the bottle opener at my seat, and only reluctantly offered to open them - probably realizing that for a $12 corkage fee, it was his job to do so. Seriously, this was the worst meal I've had in a llllooooonnnngggg time!!! There's no way I would ever go back!
(1)Kyle J.
I have ate here before and the food quality is really consistent and good. The drinks are spot on with some good desserts. For dinner I had a jalapeno popper burger which was amazing. They have good service and I love the overall restaurant.
(5)M E.
Cannot handle their business volume in a friggin Tuesday night. Sittin at the bar now watching chaos. Hire some staff you cheapskate.
(3)Shanika T.
Average. Some friends and I decided to adventure out to Oregon City to eat dinner. Hindsight is 20/20 and I wish we would have stayed in Portland. I ordered a medium rare Bleu Burger with fries and the chipotle aioli. The patty was fairly thin and lacked flavor. It didn't seem like they seasoned it at all. The bacon onion jam had a really nice flavor but wasn't enough to make up for a bland burger. The fries were average, but somewhat cold when our food was delivered. Also, we had a party of ten and they put us in an awkward room that felt like we were holding a conference meeting. The decor was odd and not executed tastefully. Pros: good price, not completely terrible food, pretty good service. Cons: "blah" food, weird conference room, location.

Had heard bad reviews on this place from friends and co-workers but we had to see for ourselves. Our review: (we should have listened) - It was AWFUL!!! We waited almost 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and it was almost 20 minutes from the time we entered until we were seated - and there were plenty of open tables. Clearly the place is very short staffed. Our water arrived to the table in DIRTY glasses. We ordered the artichoke and spinach dip appetizer - it was luke warm at best and there were still chunks of cold unmelted cream cheese inside and the (tacky) tri-colored corn chips it was served with were VERY stale. My boyfriend ordered off of the HH menu: macaroni and cheese, Caesar salad and a cheese burger. The Caesar salad and macaroni and cheese arrived about 15 MINUTES before anything else. The Caesar salad arrived at the table sans dressing (apparently the cook forgot to put it on the salad when he tossed it with the croutons). Macaroni and cheese was watered down and had no flavor AND the noodles were cold and very wet?!? His burger arrived and about 5 minutes later and was also disgusting. The meat patty was so overcooked it was black but it too was cold. The lettuce and tomato were very wet (so much so that there was a puddle of water in the plate which had SOAKED a good portion of the bottom hamburger bun) and there was a dime size (yes, I'm serious) dollop of mayonnaise on the top half of the bun. No ketchup, nothing. Dry, dry, dry. I ordered the prime rib (the Friday night "special"). It arrived about 5 minutes AFTER my bf's burger. For $29, I received a cold piece if meat, cold broccoli and luke warm RUNNY mashed potatoes. The prime rib had a chemical/floral taste to it. I thought I was imagining it but the couple at the table next to us leaned over and asked if my meat tasted like floral air freshener (which was a perfect description). Bottom line: I'm not sure how this place is surviving and now understand why they weren't busy on a Friday night at 6 p.m.

Only been here once for Sunday brunch, but I was impressed with the menu, the service and the food. The inside is gorgeous and charming with some local historic tidbits placed thoughtfully throughout. I had the pulled pork sandwich and the SO had the reuben and both were delicious. I had my standard Bloody Mary Extra Sassy and whoever made it, made it right. $24 total for all three. I will be back for happy hour for sure.

This is a very hometown, historic wedding venue and restaurant in the heart of Oregon City. We were upstairs for a wedding in their ballroom, which was extremely elegant. The food was delicious and there were pool tables in a rather large side-room with great view of Oregon City. The owners are the nicest people, and we are really looking forward to going there again!
(5)Leilani C.
This is our family's new (well - last 9 months or so) favorite place in Oregon City! We never ate at Weatherford's and were leery about coming here with the impression that it would be really expensive. The first time we came, my husband and I dined for lunch. We both ordered a half sandwich and salad. Not only was it DELICIOUS - it was CHEAP! $6 a plate! We couldn't beat that anywhere! I know there was shifting in the kitchen - I talked with several of the wait staff about it as there were issues with consistency in flavors and cooking styles of the dishes. I don't think that any of my dishes were actually bad - but I just didn't enjoy the inconsistency in ordering a "usual" that came out quite the opposite. Overall - that was the only thing I've ever had to criticize about. Their happy hour menu is reasonable and unlike Cooperstown or all these other mediocre places around - all of their food is unique, classy, and have amazing flavors. They change their menu seasonally - or at least frequently, which I love. Their menu is not just burgers and fries or just steak and seafood - it's a variety and a very smart business decision, in my opinion. I hope they will continue success here. I'm certain we dine here more than any other patrons :). Our son is 6 and loves their dishes - another plus? Kids menu isn't just chicken nuggets and burgers. I love that they have healthy choices for their kids menu. Nearly everywhere we go, including the chain restaurants, seem to think that we should stuff our kids with calories and fat. All in all, I can easily say this is my favorite restaurant. We will probably be dining there, yet again, this weekend.
(5)Michelle B.
We went without realizing that the restaurant had changed hands, we decided to eat dinner (instead of happy hour, which was what we originally went for) - i ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my husband got the steak. the food was really good, i struggled with giving 3 stars because it just took so darn long but the food was yummy, it deserved 4. when i asked the very nice and accommodating waiter what the hold up was, he checked on the order, apologized for the delay and gave me a free refill on my wine (i was happy with that). we'll be back to check out happy hour, the dinners were a little steep for a normal weekday out dinner for us but the food was good - i'm willing to pay for quality!
(4)Suzan G.
What a great surprise! Hidden in plain sight is a newly managed and tastefully renovated restaurant/event venue that will be a 'must go' place in Oregon City. We happened by during happy hour, and I'm enjoying a delicious hot drink (Spanish Cliffe) and the best Mac-cheese I can remember (made with smoked Gouda and cherrywood bacon). I'll be back to try the grilled pear salad and steak frites, or maybe the Oregon blue burger. And did I mention that the waitstaff is great--knowledgeable and friendly. With reasonable prices and easy parking, this place is definitely worth at least one return trip.

We were excited to see a new restaurant open here and not just another for lease sign. We have tried them on 4 seperate occasions, all at happy hour with similar results. Upon sitting at the bar they display their low end liqours in front and their call and upper end liquors near the back of the bar. It creates the impression that cheap liquor is used even though that is not the case. The cocktails are quite good. 1 bartender that is friendly but has a difficult time keeping up to the bar, the servers and the small booth section next to the bar. 3 of the 4 times at least one of our happy hour items have been cold to the touch. Not luke warm actually cold, this time is was the beef sliders and seasonal stew. Good flavor but cold. We really wish that there was more of an emphasis on the details here as it is a nice spot but I fear it will suffer the same fate as each of it's predecessors. At a minimum please take down the old Weatherford's sign that hangs above the entrance.

You must not understand the importance of this place yet or you would have been here. Over the past 15 years this location has been a dance studio and several restaurants, but then enters Highcliffe. Holy...Bacon Jam, Batman! Though a little dark in decor for my liking, it was all vintage Oregon City, which I loved...and the darkness in decor was offset by the brightness of the amazing waitstaff. We started with the mussels, steamed in chardonnay, garlic and lemon. That should have been enough..they were perfect and a huge order for two of us. We licked our chops and asked for a suggestion for the next course. Before that I asked for a raspberry ice tea. She offered to bring me an ice tea and a shot of raspberry syrup to make my own! Boy did I feel grown up. Our ice water even came in a clip top bottle frosty from the fridge...but THEN...my friend ordered the salmon chowder, a recipe from the chef's grandmother and it was heaven on earth...creamy, thick, chocked full of salmon. That and the mussels should have been enough....wait, there is more..the signature dish of Highcliffe was delivered...two of the most beautiful burgers, cooked medium well. The crowning jewel was the BACON JAM and the blue cheese. It is impossible to describe except it was luscious, sweet, savory, tender, tasty..this place speaks fluent deliciousness. But don't take my word for it...and look for me, I will be the one with the bacon jam dripping down my chin.

Mmmm mmmm two cosmos have clouded my memories, but I do remember some delicious pasta with amazingly large Shrimp, delicate flavors, and a joyful room. My Honey liked it a lot too. We'll get back there. A touch pricey for the food and portions I thought though.

I have been here twice and both times I was impressed by their food. The restaurant is located in a remodeled historic building, so the architecture is wonderful and they have a beautiful full length bar. Both times the staff has been quite attentive and pleasant. They appear to have a revolving menu, because the first time I had the pork tenderloin, stuffed with cranberries and hazelnuts with puréed carrots, which was all delicious, but is no longer on the menu. The second time I ordered the grilled thick cut pork chop, served with yam mashed potatoes, carmelized brussel sprouts and stone ground mustard cream sauce, which I enjoyed the tenderloin more than, but was nonetheless still very good. Every entree I saw on the menu appears to take a unique approach to traditional meals, with added ingredients or choice of accompanying sides and so far I've been impressed with what their chefs have done with this. The prices are on the upper side for Oregon City, but well within reason for an upscale restaurant of this type, which is sorely needed in this area.

My wife & I are apparently the first happy hour customers. What an amazing historic building, lovely redo inside, capable staff, approachable owners, tasty vittles & good grog. Excellent!

We eat here quite often. I like the variety of the menu. The macaroni and cheese is the best, but they have good soups and salads too. We love the French fries. The food is always consistent. We had Thanksgiving dinner there last year, it was also very good. They were able to accommodate a large group.
